Here is some background info, in case you are into that:

I mentioned it already on EPISODE 6, but if you are new, or forgot, Maxwell is Joan's stay-at-home younger husband. What I haven't mentioned is that the two of them met at MITT (Midtoon Institute ot Trade & Technology) when Joan was teaching a Legal and Ethical Challenges in Biotechnology course. Erika was 8 or 9 and Jade was a toddler, and a very chalenging one at that, so when eventually Maxwell joined the family, (the father of Erika an Jade had abandoned them) he offered to stay home and care for Jade until she was better able to be on her own, but one thing let to another and he is still caring for the house while Joan now works as a legal adviser to the Mayor.

Hey, did you know you can read MY OTHER COMIC here?

The telescope idea possibly doesn't relate to the gender change quite so well. It makes me think of Dudley Moore in the film 10 when they're spying on the couple in the next house along.

The purple background on the Yuk! frame threw me a little at first. It's a great idea and illustrates the way kids react to those sorts of things.

Ha! You're totally right. There are some things from the original that won't work too well on this experiment and will require adaptation. Especially problematic will be the part where Max gets pregnant, which was a major part of the second season of Midtoon, and will obviously require some major changes.

On the Yuk! panel, I could never figure out how to handle it. The original had a red gradient, but Jade is wearing a red t-shirt so it didn't work. I played around with many colors, and finally had to end up with one. Thinking about it now, a blur of the background of panel one could have worked.

Thanks for the comment.

Sounds like you need a serious re-think for Max.

I guess that's the whole challenge with swapping the genders.

Yes, the challenge of adapting to the new reality is what makes this fun for me. I'd love it if the end result also turns out fun for readers, but there is no guarantee of that. In this game, all you can do is try.
